Currently, we are conducting a search on behalf of one of our clients – a renowned semi-government organization in Saudi Arabia – for an Urban Planning Senior Engineer . Our executive search firm is currently assisting this highly regarded organization in finding an experienced professional for this role. As the Urban Planning Senior Engineer, you will have a critical role in the development and implementation of urban planning strategies and projects. In this position, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, architects, and urban designers, to ensure the successful execution of urban planning initiatives. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to improve the livability, sustainability, and functionality of urban spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in urban planning or a related field, in addition to significant practical experience in urban planning projects. Success in this role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, outstanding communication abilities, and a deep understanding of urban planning principles and regulations.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in urban planning or a related field
  3. Proven experience in leading and managing urban planning projects
  4. Expertise in urban planning principles, policies, and regulations
  5. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  6. Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  7. Proficiency in relevant urban planning software and tools
  8. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Job Roles

  1. Reviewing project outputs for the planning sector, such as comprehensive plans (regional and local plans).
  2. Reviewing planning and design studies related to land subdivision plans, building regulations, land uses, proposing property expropriation, rehabilitating existing urban neighborhoods and informal settlements, planning and design guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
  3. Reviewing planning and development requests and issues submitted to the planning sector.
  4. Reviewing road networks and infrastructure plans, as well as public transport and rail plans and logistics areas.
  5. Studying and preparing reports on planning or design issues as required by work interests.
  6. Participating in meetings, workshops, and gatherings.
  7. Contributing to knowledge transfer to sector employees.
  8. Preparing and delivering training courses for agency staff in the field of urban planning.

Skills

  1. Strong knowledge of principles and theories of urban planning.
  2. Creative and analytical thinking.
  3. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Experience in statistical analysis and data analysis.
  5. Experience in conducting research and preparing reports and presentations for decision-makers.
  6. Proficiency in both Arabic and English.
