The successful candidate should have previous Transport Electrical design experience specific to public and private sector projects/development, as well as strong knowledge of construction methodology for both temporary and permanent design. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing reports, proposals and liaising with clients for successful results.Role Accountabilities:The primarily focus is Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting design for transportation facilities and the successful candidate will work with technical staff to prepare preliminary, and detailed traffic/intersection design Drawings, Estimates, Specifications, and Proposals. You will also assist in preparing reports as to the nature, status and results of design or study assignments.This role will also include working on client relationship building and management including taking part in business development activities, proposal preparation, organizing staff resources, establishing project budgets and schedules. You will communicate effectively with clients and internal team members (Engineers, Architects, Designers and Project Managers) in the design and specification development of electrical, lighting and communications systems projects within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of Traffic Signal Design and Lighting projects. You will develop traffic signal, lighting or auxiliary systems designs in AutoCAD and/or Microstation such as layout, single line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, grounding details, prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop and conduit capacity calculations. You will also render utility coordination duties for Electrical Transport related Design and Construction Projects and prepare technical reports, tender documentation and field support (including commissioning, Traffic signal turn-on, and site inspection).This person will ensure that Engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices, review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs and ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high quality including engineering stamped drawings and preparing final reports.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Completed Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Traffic/Civil Engineering3 to 4+ years' relevant experience in intersection/traffic signal design, ideally in a design-consulting or utility environmentMust have or be eligible for the P. Eng. designation in OntarioMust be proficient with AutoCAD and MicrostationProficient with AGI 32Working knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (Book 12, 15, 5, & 7), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Canada (MUTCDC), and Technical Manuals published by the Transportation Association of CanadaA valid driver's license and vehicle is requiredExperience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authoritiesExperience with pole loading software i.e. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an assetExperience performing electrical site inspections, construction supervision and contract administrationExperience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering various complex projects with large size and scopeExperience working on MTO Minor and Major Electrical projectsMTO Major RAQS qualified is an assetAdditional InformationWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
