The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities. AKUH is the first hospital in Pakistan to be awarded the prestigious Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) for practicing the highest internationally recognized healthcare standards.  The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH's Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.  Aga Khan University invites application for the position of Associate Professor (Translational Research) in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Responsibilities As an Associate Professor in Translational Research, you will play a crucial role in advancing scientific discoveries from the laboratory to clinical applications. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and conduct innovative research projects with the aim of translating scientific findings into tangible healthcare solutions. Additionally, you will be expected to teach and mentor students, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, secure research funding, and contribute to the academic community through publications and presentations. Requirements You should have: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., biomedical sciences, clinical research, pharmacology, molecular biology, etc.)demonstrated expertise in translational research, with a strong track record of publications and presentations in reputable scientific journals and conferencesexperience in designing and executing research projects that involve the translation of basic scientific knowledge into clinical applicationsproven ability to secure research grants and funding from government agencies, foundations, or industry sponsorsteaching experience, preferably at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to excellence in education and student mentorshipstrong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, mentor students, and present research findings to scientific and non-scientific audiencesknowledge of ethical and regulatory considerations in translational researchleadership qualities and a willingness to contribute to academic service and institutional development.To ApplyInterested candidates should send their detailed CVs to human.resources@aku.edu and mention the position number "10040240" in the subject line.Only shortlisted candidates would be contacted. Applications should be submitted latest by August 13, 2023
