Full job description

  • Establishes and maintains an up-to-date Infection Prevention and Control Plan, Infection Prevention policies, and guidelines for all hospital departments.
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates all aspects of the organization’s infection risk assessment, control and prevention procedures and reassessment based on all regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards, and organization’s guidelines and development of appropriate goals.
  • Ensures the Prevention and Infection Control Program uses appropriate statistical techniques to describe the data, calculate rates, and critically evaluate the significance of findings by benchmarking with evidence-based findings.
  • Provides consultation and expertise to a variety of stakeholders, based on an in-depth knowledge of infection control and other relevant science; assesses and intervenes to ensure effective infection prevention and control within the clinical specialty.
  • Collects statistics, prepares, and presents reports to Department Director and hospital management team or committees and all others as appropriate.
  • Responsible for preparation and control of the Infection Prevention and Control budget in cooperation with the Department Director, including preparing and presenting the Annual Hospital Prevention and Control Infection Plan.
  • Initiates Prevention and Control of Infection studies where indicated, including but not limited to outbreak investigations.
  • Researches Prevention and Control of Infection topics, guidelines and resources; proactively develops, revises, reviews, and develops infection control policies and procedures as and when needed.
  • Overall responsibility for creating a culture of effective practice to ensure that infection control is an integral part of everyday practice
  • Accountable for the scope of practice including the supervision and delegation of infection control activities to the Infection Control Nurse and link nurses/personnel
  • Ensure the infectious cases admitted to the ward are reported to health authority as per advised
  • Ensure the HIACC & link nurses’ meetings are carried out as per scheduled.

  • Minimum Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with Post Basic in Infection Control. Relevant Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Has experienced in MSQH and JCI.
  • Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board and valid Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • At least 10 years full time hospital experience at supervisory level.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Infection Control with very strong knowledge base in infection control.
  • Requires ability to perform complex statistical analysis and highly developed problem-solving skills
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
