Requisition ID 607- Posted -  Nursing / Home Care The post holder is responsible as a member of the radiology team for the maintenance of a high standard of nursing care in the DIC department. He/she will assist in department and maximize the use of resources. Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards 1 Clinical Responsibilities: At the start of each shift check appointment book and prepare for booked investigations. 2 Replenish consumable items and ensure that stocks are adequate. 3 Check expiry date and renew where necessary of:

• Cidex
• Lotions/ Gel
• Sharps
• Instruments
• Drape packs

4 Ensure that the department is clean and well organised at all times. 5 To look after the sonar patients registers in radiology department (U/S Registers). 6 To look after each patient, visiting radiology department from his arrival until he leaves the department, providing him with nursing care. 7 To perform all nursing procedures during the radiology investigations (giving injections with the Physicians presence, drug infusions, cannula insertion etc….) 8 To ensure that sterilisations of all instruments used in radiological examinations are correctly carried out. 9 To take responsibilities for the emergency drug box. To ensure that crash cart is well maintained & organised. 10 To ensure that the recommendations of the infection Control committee are adhered to and implemented. 11 To supervise the helpers in radiology department. 12 To ensure that patients privacy is of prime importance. Qualifications, Competences and Skills Education Recognized nursing qualification (Registered Nurse) Experience Two (2) years post basic experience as staff nurse. Licensure Minimum one year Language P ro f ici e n c y in E n g l i sh a n d A ra bic L a n g u a g e s . Basic computer skills and DIC computer system. Performance Competencies 1 Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process 2 Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure 3 Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others 4 Able to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care 5 Able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up 6 Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status 7 Able to use computer and learn new software programs 8 Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds 9 Able to remain focused and organized 10 Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients 11 Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions Principle Working Relationships and Remarks 1 Chief Radiology technologist, R a dio l o g y clerk, referring physicians. 2 P a t i e nts and relatives, reception staff. #J-18808-Ljbffr
