To ensure there is no interruption to canola seed supply for the Canadian and North American markets, Australia plays a key part in the global production by growing and delivering seed, contra season. The Position Reporting to the Seeds and Traits Business Head ANZ, and with guidance from a Canadian colleague, there is now a vacancy for a Contra Season Manager - Canola . This role is the senior leader of all contra season operations at Mt Gambier. You will be leading local teams that are focused on consistently delivering high quality canola seed and volume targets in a safe environment. Key areas of responsibility are around: Leadership - Oversee all day-to-day manual operations providing leadership and direction for permanent staff plus casuals Strategy - plan the labor, contracted production sites and equipment (planting, harvesting) Operations - oversee the planning and production of seed increases meeting quality, quantity, and time specifications. Governance - compliance to EHS regulations, stewardship requirements and local laws The Person To be successful in this hands on, leadership role you will have: 5-10 years' experience in seed production (growing, processing, packing), preferably hybrid canola Strong communication skills and experience in leading small teams (4-6) Site Management and Operations experience Knowledge of EHS, working in a legally compliant workplace Sound agronomy knowledge Degree level qualifications There is a generous salary package on offer including base, bonus, and tool of trade vehicle. This is a great role to lead experienced and capable field teams already in place. There are well established systems and procedures in place for you and a set program for production around the Mt Gambier region. This is a niche and critical role where you will be working closely with the Canadian Canola business team.
