Send your responses to ****** Overview Network engineer is responsible for produce outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation of networks and networking technology within the organisation. Specifies user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security, and audit controls. Assesses associated risks, and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Translates logical designs into physical designs. The Network Engineer resource will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to: The implementation and transition to support of network components. Contributes to the writing of network detailed designs and Technical Implementation Instructions. Lead the development of organizational capabilities for systems integration and build including automation and continuous integration. Scope, review, assess, advise, amend (where required), plan and implement engineering tasks as defined by Project / program; Ensure quality documentation is generated to support the product engineering baseline; Assess and advise on appropriate technology solutions including hardware, software, firmware, and vendors where relevant to a task; Assess and advise on system architecture where relevant to a task; Coordinate ITSM changes, including the development and or maintenance of engineering artefacts and Service Records through extant SMB ITSM processes; Assess the suitability of the defect remediation activities in accordance with the CIOG Technical Assurance Framework; Deliver engineering effort to assess, and rectify Obsolescence within the Strategic Gateway Environment (SGE); and Any other tasks reasonably requested by the program. Skills and Mandatory: Experience: Bachelors degree in information technology related field of study with a network engineering focus or have certificate or 3 years experience in field. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers. Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols. Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection. Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of o LAN and WAN experience. o Cisco routers and switches; telephony o Firewalls o Load Balancing (e.g., F5) o Network Security o WAN Optimization o Network Virtualization Desirable: Have a thorough working knowledge of the Pegasus support processes as they apply to FVEY support and sustainment activities. Have a thorough working knowledge of the CIOG transition processes to enable effective engagement with stakeholder support towers for the progression of transition activities.
