The Mental Health Officer provides assistance to the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Service Social Workers, by advocating for consumers and providing specific intervention and assessment in welfare services.

Conduct a comprehensive assessment of needs to escort consumers to external appointments which may include; accommodation placements, Launch Housing, Centrelink and the State Trustees OfficeAssist with the collection of consumers personal belongings Assist consumers to obtain material aid Participate in the Inpatient Group program to promote principles of recovery, and ensure information of consumers rights and responsibilities are available Classifications for this position will range from Mental Health Officer Level 1 SO11 - SO18 ($52,306 - $62,337 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution: Good communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrated skills in engaging consumers with complex needs Ability and commitment to work collaboratively with consumers, carers, members of the multidisciplinary team and external agencies Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtainAbout the Team We work collaboratively with peer workers, consumer and carer-consultants and the Aboriginal Liaison Officer. Everyone receives training in Strengths and support to participate in Productive Ward and Safewards.
