Career Opportunities: Executive Director - Precision Diagnostics & Therapeutics (96108) Title: Executive Director, Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics Hours of Work: Full-Time Position, Days Department: EVP Patient Care and COO Salary: to be determined + pension/benefits POSITION SUMMARY : Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Operating Officer We are seeking an Executive Director (ED) of Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics, to oversee an exciting new portfolio that includes Laboratory Services, Medical Imaging and Pharmacy. The ED provides senior tactical and operational leadership through the Program Operational Directors and Program Medical Directors, driving the achievement of corporate, academic and program goals, including patient experience, staff engagement, fiscal sustainability, innovation, and sustainable organizational growth. Makes decisions through consistent and thoughtful use of the best available evidence from multiple sources, including systematically searching for and retrieving evidence/data, critically evaluating the relevance and accuracy of the evidence/data, incorporating the evidence in the decision-making process, and evaluating the outcome of the decision taken. Ensures the establishment, communication, monitoring, and achievement of indicators that track meaningful performance metrics against accepted benchmarks/standards and externally driven targets, supporting corporate performance/scorecards. Coaching and Mentoring Identifies and nurtures emergent leadership talent, coaching and mentoring Program Directors in planning, developing, evaluating, and continuously improving the operations/services within the portfolio, including quality, financial sustainability, team engagement and system effectiveness. Promotes and coaches for a culture of inclusion, inquiry, and continuous improvement at the front line and in program leadership. Ensures that program leaders make decisions that, in addition to supporting program advancement, consider the corporate perspective and support organizational success. Quality of Care & Financial Sustainability Assesses, evaluates, plans, implements, modifies, and continually drives improvement in patient and family centred service delivery in a manner that is congruent with the different and unique Mission, Vision and Values of Kingston Health Science Centre's Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital. Works with the Program leadership teams to identify and develop new and innovative funding/revenue generation approaches/opportunities and ongoing efficiencies to help realize program goals and organizational sustainability. Drives program/organizational enhancement and growth, through development and implementation of comprehensive, value-for-money business cases or proposals that are presented internally and may be submitted to external regional or provincial agencies for funding support. As needed/directed, assumes leadership and facilitative roles in regional initiatives, working with our regional network of partners and beyond (regional and provincial partners). Participates in regional planning and development of regional initiatives that span the continuum of care, collaborating with regional partners to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational/regional efficiency and effectiveness. Academic Advancement The ED supports the academic goals of the organization through initiating, developing, promoting, and facilitating innovation, teaching, publishing and communication of leading practices and Program evolution. *NOTE: The above duties are representative but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in health care discipline, business, or related field Member of a Regulated Health Care Profession preferred Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in complex health care environments, with broad understanding of issues related to healthcare leadership and management, system collaboration, and leading/managing in a highly regulated and unionized environment Broad knowledge and experience with hospitals, health care organizations, health systems, and healthcare regulation, including finance, marketing, operations management, and organizational behaviour Knowledge and active experience with evidence-based leadership and management, Quality Initiatives, and change management principles and theories Ability to think strategically at the organizational, program, unit, and individual level Highly developed critical thinking skills, systems thinking, ability to conceptualize and analyze problems, innovative approach to problem solving, and strong negotiation skills  Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and strengthening partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders Demonstrated ability to lead and influence individuals and teams within a large organization toward a vision/goal, while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness Demonstrated ability to create and support a welcoming environment that promotes and embeds practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion Demonstrated person-centered attitude and commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions of KHSC A high level of proficiency using word processing, communications/scheduling and spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Windows Office suite (including Outlook, Word and Excel) required, including ability to recognize and deliver expert reports, reviews and PowerPoint presentations when required Demonstrated ability to learn and use new and emerging technologies in social media and generative AI to drive achievement would be an asset Successful criminal background check with vulnerable sector search PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
