Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director Provincial Medical Imaging program, the Zone Director of Diagnostic Imaging leads a technologically complex and diverse regional diagnostic imaging program and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services throughout all NL Health Services Eastern Urban Zone facilities. The Zone Director provides leadership, vision, and technical direction to a dedicated team of highly skilled health professionals and support staff, fostering a patient-centric culture of safety and continuous quality improvement. The position is responsible for the strategic and operational planning for the Medical Imaging Program. The incumbent coordinates and directs the operational, financial and staffing activities of regional imaging services such as radiology, interventional and therapeutic angiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and PET. The Zone Director plans, organizes, implements and evaluates outcomes of the program's strategic plan; develops strategic initiatives and transforms initiatives into action plans; and performs regular data analysis of workload and wait times to identify variances so that areas of focus may be identified, and resources may be appropriately deployed. Budget development will be accomplished within government guidelines in an atmosphere where it is increasingly difficult to recruit new staff and where there are many needs competing for limited financial resources. The Zone Director will bring a strong patient-centred approach to the delivery of services and will partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements.
