Candidate will lead and contribute to research in geofluids, diagenesis and basin modeling primarily through fluid inclusion analysis and Raman spectroscopy for petroleum property prediction, migration and charge risking and cementation history. The job will be based in EXPEC ARC laboratories in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The lab is equipped with high-resolution UV fluorescence microscopy and heating-cooling stage for micro thermometry, an MSSV interfaced to a GC-MS for online molecular analysis of fluid inclusions and MSSV-IR-MS for isotope analysis of fluid inclusion gas. The lab is also equipped with a Raman spectroscope for the analysis of fluid inclusions and other types of materials such as organic matter and minerals in source rocks for unconventional resource studies.
PhD in Geosciences specialized in fluid inclusions and Raman spectroscopy, plus 10 years' experience in industry, consultancy or academia. Research record demonstrated in quality publications, conference presentations and, where possible, patents. English proficiency is a given.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Fluid Inclusion/Raman Spectroscopy expert with advanced understanding and proven research record in petroleum systems analysis and fluid property prediction in specific, and the upstream oil and gas industry, in general will be part of the Geochemistry Research Team. As the leader of the fluid inclusion research lab you will analyze and study hydrocarbon and aqueous fluid inclusions in both clastic and carbonate reservoir rocks. The work will integrate fluid inclusion and Raman analysis outcomes with basin modeling and geology for charge and reservoir quality risking and petroleum system analysis. You will present your results and integrated studies as needed to various E&P departments. Your responsibilities also include the training of technicians and young researchers on the use of the above-listed techniques, including the preparation of fluid inclusion wafers for micro thermometry. You will develop new methods, approaches and interpretations in fluid inclusions and Raman spectroscopy. Experience in basin modeling packages, such as PetroMod is desirable.
