We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team and support our client in monitoring the health and safety performance of irrigation improvement works being delivered across the Nile Delta.**Responsibilities**:- Support the Client/PIU and Construction Teams in enforcing H&S measures in construction sites.- Ensure the Contractor prepares and implements a Construction Health and Safety Plan- Provide H&S training for concerned staff in Client/PIU- Ensure that each Construction Team has hired certified operational health and safety experts monitoring OHS measures in construction sites- Conduct site visits to ensure that all accidents and "near miss" accidents that may take place on site are recorded and presented in contractor and Resident Engineers reports- Prepare Health Impact Assessment Reports- Liaison and coordinate activities with the program implementing entities including the Client/PIU- Provide capacity building support to the PIU in their monitoring of HSE through the preparation of a Health and Safety Manual.- The following experience/capabilities are **essential** for this role:- Minimum B.Sc. degree in relevant sector- Preferably experience in similar projects- Based in Cairo or in Kafr El Sheikh- Specific experience in safety of construction for infrastructural projects.- Proven expertise and understanding of EBRD's environmental and social requirements and past experience- Specific experience in the region is considered a distinct advantage.- Excellent people skills with confidence to take part in high level meetings with public and private sector clients.- The ability to respect and work well with people from different cultures and backgrounds.- Fluent / proficient in English- The following experience/capabilities are **desirable **for this role:- Implementation of irrigation projects in Egypt- Regional experience in Egypt, North Africa or the Middle East- An ability to speak and read/write Arabic would be an advantage**Job Profile**:- We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental specialist with a strong construction background for ongoing water and sanitation projects in Egypt and to join our International Development Team in Mott MacDonald.- Mott MacDonald's International Development Services Unit is working on development projects across South Asia and Africa.
