Job Overview: We are seeking a high-performing and results-oriented Category Manager to join our team at Snoonu. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the vendor portfolio and product assortment for a specific category or set of categories. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and operations, to drive growth and ensure that the category meets its financial and strategic objectives. You will also be responsible for drawing up and executing category plans (Some of) What you will be doing:
  • Category Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute the category strategy, aligning with Snoonu’s overall goals. Identify key trends, customer needs, and market opportunities to optimize merchant identification, product assortment and increase sales.
  • Product Assortment & Sourcing: Curate and manage the product assortment within your category, ensuring a mix that caters to customer demand, competitive pricing, and quality standards. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure optimal product availability and negotiate terms to maximize profitability.
  • Pricing & Promotions: Oversee pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and discounting to ensure competitive positioning and drive customer engagement. Work closely with the marketing team to plan and execute promotions, product launches, and seasonal sales.
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with the merchants & operations to maintain appropriate stock levels across inventory, consignment & marketplace models. Ensure timely replenishment, minimize out-of-stock issues, and optimize inventory turnover within the category.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting : Regularly analyze sales data, market trends, and customer insights to measure category performance. Create reports for senior management and provide actionable recommendations for improvements and growth.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers. Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to quality, delivery timelines, and pricing agreements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, sales, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of strategies across different departments. Provide support for product launches, marketing campaigns, and operational initiatives.
  • Customer Experience & Feedback: Continuously monitor customer feedback and adjust category strategies accordingly to improve the shopping experience. Ensure that the product listings, descriptions, and imagery meet customer expectations.
Attitude matters most but do you have any of these?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field. MBA or additional relevant qualifications is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Category Manager, or similar role in e-commerce or retail.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies to increase awareness, discovery and conversion.
  • Knowledge of content best practices and its impact on product listings and conversions.
  • Strong understanding of online retail platforms and digital marketplaces, with experience managing product categories across such platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with data to drive insights and decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor and supplier management. Proven history of driving strong margins/commissions and rebates.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management and pricing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and senior management.
  • Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
