Job details

The Consultant - Ophthalmologist is responsible for performing routine eye exams to advanced surgical procedures for a wide range of eye diseases and conditions, establishing effective patient care plans, and referring patients to the appropriate specialists. The position holder should be highly trained with proven experience of effectively working in an emergency room or urgent care setting.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Providing routine care such as vision testing and prescribing glasses and contact lenses.
  2. Performing corrective surgeries, such as repairing injuries and corneas, and removing cataracts.
  3. Performing advanced surgical procedures, such as keyhole or laser surgery.
  4. Diagnosing and treating eye diseases and injuries.
  5. Managing emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, or other specialist eye clinics.
  6. Treating medical disorders that affect vision through a holistic approach.
  7. Using therapeutic procedures and performing biopsies.
  8. Actively participating in the planning and implementation of department development plans and various manpower training programs for medical, technical, and nursing staff in his/her area of expertise.
  9. Participating in various committees for upgrading services and organizing work within and outside the hospital.
  10. Participating in the scheduling of on-call duties and providing on-call services.
  11. Participating in the assessment and updating of drug, medical supply, and equipment needs.
  12. Participating in all relevant research activities related to their expertise.
  13. Performing special procedures as privileged.
  14. Adhering to policies, guidelines, plans, and programs of the organization.
  15. Performing other duties as assigned/directed by the Head of the department.

Skills

  1. With valid medical license to practice in the country of residence.
  2. Excellent and effective communication skills to explain complex medical information and procedures, and to answer questions from patients and their families.
  3. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  4. Perfect vision and visuospatial awareness.
  5. Supervising fellows, staff/assistant physicians, and residents with the collaborative ability to work well alone as well as within a team.
  6. ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role/setting in an accredited healthcare facility. #J-18808-Ljbffr
