Team Management Manages the water team within the utilities department coordinating activities of the engineering and technicians. The water team covers potable water, wastewater, irrigation, recycled water, storm water, firefighting, hydrology, water and wastewater treatment, and district cooling. Responsible for working with the team leads and principals in managing the water team. Ensure effective communication of technical and business issues to all staff reporting to you and the wider team. Accountable for the results of the water department and adherence to approved project budgets. Fully accountable for the team's utilization targets. Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for the water team. Supports business change management initiatives (i.e., quality management, BIM, project excellence) mandated by senior leadership. Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates the staff within the department. Technical Delivery Management Responsible for independently resolving all technical and managerial matters regarding the engineering issues within the water department. Must have a solid understanding of all water infrastructure and non-infrastructure elements within the projects. Extensive experience in working on land development projects covering master planning stages to detailed design. Conducts peer reviews, leads verifications, and shares knowledge through internal technical presentations and standards development. Provides technical expertise in terms of quantity, quality, and cost to assess whether targets have been achieved and determine where improvements and efficiencies can be achieved. Can perform technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures and approves and signs off on work. Serves as Lead Verifier (where required), confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations. Approves and signs off work. Technical coordination with authorities for approvals of schemes. Leading digital transformation strategy and implementation and embracing the change within the discipline. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of a subject area, definition of scope, and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. Excellent presentation and report writing skills. Must have experience delivering presentations to senior personnel. Project Management Act as project manager on large and/or complex projects. Drives a culture of financial responsibility ensuring maximum profitability. Has a solid understanding of project delivery requirements and is well-versed with project management techniques. Understand and apply the principles of risk and value management and use risk and value-based thinking to make project level decisions. Business Development Actively involved with clients and leads business development initiatives participating in the preparation of major bids and proposals on the commercial and technical side. Externally recognized as a leader in one or more elements of technical discipline. Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and develops the technical strategy for proposals within the area of expertise. Advises local management on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies. Qualifications : Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years experience with at least 10 years in large international engineering consultancy
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering or relevant discipline.
- Chartered or PE status.
