Job Description We are seeking a passionate and skilled Radio Journalist to join our dynamic news team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives under pressure, has a keen eye for news, and can deliver compelling and timely broadcasts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and present accurate, engaging, and informative news bulletins.
  • Present live, timed-out bulletins as well as recorded content.
  • Generate news story ideas, following leads from contacts, public figures, media conferences, and other sources.
  • Research, write, and deliver radio news stories.
  • Conduct interviews with a wide range of newsmakers.
  • Use editorial judgment to determine the best angle for each story.
  • Meet fast-paced, hourly and half-hourly news deadlines.
  • Adhere to media law, industry codes of conduct, and regulations while completing required training and accreditation.
  • Work closely with the Melbourne News Director and shift editors for direction.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in journalism, with expertise in news gathering.
  • Experience in a radio newsroom is desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of local, national, and international issues.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competence in online research, audio editing, and social media.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to receive feedback and direction.
  • Adherence to the highest ethical standards.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class C – car).
  • A degree in Journalism is highly desirable.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.
