Senior Associate - Worker Welfare

JOB PURPOSE • Support the implementation of Aldar’s Worker Welfare Policy across the organization’s portfolio to drive improved compliance within Aldar subsidiaries and where applicable within the supply chain. • Drive the launch of grievance mechanisms to enable oversight of the supply chain where applicable. • Contribute to the development of a robust internal audit team. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities
- Work closely with Aldar’s Procurement function to ensure that worker welfare assessments are completed as part of prequalification and tender technical assessment, where worker welfare is applicable.
- Deliver feedback and training to suppliers to drive further compliance.
- Conduct worker welfare assessments; including reviews of employment practices, assessments of accommodation and transportation facilities, as well as assessments of project site welfare facilities.
- Review and approve worker welfare assessments completed by third-party auditors or consultants.
- Ensure that the worker welfare monitoring program is routine and appropriate to the risk rating assigned from assessments.
- Manage the launch of grievance mechanisms including sample worker interviews and technology-enabled mediums to allow supply chain workers to report issues of concern.
- Maintain oversight of all issues of concern logged and coordinate with appropriate managers to rectify the issues while maintaining the close-outs timeline.
- Develop and update training material and deliver induction and training to suppliers and workers on site on their rights and responsibilities during their employment in the UAE.
- Work closely with the legal and compliance departments to ensure that the worker welfare program is compliant with UAE labor laws and regulations. Stay up-to-date with evolving labor standards and recommend updates to company policies accordingly.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans related to worker welfare, ensuring that the company is prepared to respond effectively to any urgent issues or emergencies affecting workers.
- Manage the on-site worker welfare team and be the point of contact for them in day-to-day activities. Provide coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities conducted and ensure their retention in the appropriate project folders.
- Produce timely reports from all assessments conducted while maintaining.
- Establish supplier scorecards that evaluate, and rank suppliers based on their worker welfare performance.

- Sound knowledge of worker welfare issues and UAE Labour Law.
- Good understanding of site-based aspects of construction projects.
- IT proficient, with extensive experience working with Excel, Word, Database and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines.
- Commitment to Professional Ethics, Integrity and Confidentiality.
- Proficient in English and Hindi. Knowledge of other languages like Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil is an added advantage.
- Minimum Bachelor degree – preferably in a related field.
- IRCA Certified Lead Auditor (Preferably OSHAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- NEBOSH IGC in Occupational Health & Safety.
