Transition Technical Assistance Associate - Extension Associate Yang-Tan InstitutePosition is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, or can be based remotely within New York State.The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for an Extension Associate - Transition Technical Assistance Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.Our Team:The Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) conducts research and provides continuing education and technical assistance on many aspects of disability in the workplace. Researchers and practitioners at YTI have helped companies, labor organizations, government agencies, schools, and communities throughout the United States and abroad to accommodate and integrate individuals with disabilities.What you will do:The position's primary focus will be as a Transition and Data Associate for the NYS Education Department's Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) professional development initiative. This position's role is to train and provide technical assistance to content specialists on the Office of Special Education Educational Partnership regional teams. This position will also develop curriculum and materials, provide technical assistance to content specialists, and support Partnership evaluation planning and implementation. Must reside in New York State to complete project responsibilities.Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with appointment through December 31, 2026.What we need:Masters degree or higher in special education, general education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, disability studies, adult education, or other related field.Minimum of one year of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance.Minimum of three years of experience working in K-12 education settings with educators.Strong written and oral communication skills and experience teaching adult learners.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team.Relevant professional leadership and network development at the state and regional level.Frequent travel required.Must be a New York State resident or willing to relocate.You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:Terminal degree in special education or education-related field.Two or more years of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance to practitioners in special education or related field.Two or more years of experience working in transition for students with disabilities and the ability to demonstrate content knowledge in the area of transition.Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.).Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc.Minimum three years of experience with distance learning.Three or more years of experience working in special education or general education.To Apply:Interested parties should submit a vita and letter of application describing qualifications and research agenda, and teaching/training experience.
