Principal Urban Designer

About The Role In this role, you will focus on providing high quality, technical urban design advice to deliver high-quality design outcomes across the municipality. Temporary part time (6 months). Work type: Temporary part-time (6 months) (2 days per week) Classification: Band 8 $115,035 - $127,711 pa plus super pro rata Key responsibilities include:

1. Provide design advice and guidance for a range of place-based projects, encompassing residential, mixed use, commercial and industrial master planning.
2. Provide visually compelling communication to enable diverse audiences to imagine and realise the future opportunities for a place, neighbourhood, or a precinct.
3. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

About You You will hold a tertiary qualification in urban design, architecture, urbanism or a related specialised field. Additionally, you will have extensive experience in offering expert advice and guidance on a range of urban design projects, which result in improved high quality design outcomes. Essential Experience:

1. Extensive professional experience as an Urban Designer, with a focus on providing advice and critique on the design of developments and major projects.
2. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to articulate issues and influence outcomes at a senior level.
3. Excellent knowledge of the Victorian planning scheme.
4. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with a range of stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
5. Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
