Accountant Overview: The Accountant plays a vital role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records ensuring compliance with regulations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage a range of accounting functions, including providing financial information to assist the Senior Accountant in decision-making, ensuring accurate recordkeeping of transactions of an organization in the F&B and education industry, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the financial health and integrity of the organization. Key Skills
- Technical Accounting Skills: Proficiency in accounting principles and financial regulations (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
- Expertise in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Excel for managing financial data.
- Familiarity with tax laws and regulations applicable to the industry.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Strong skills in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations.
- Ability to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work to ensure data integrity.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and errors in financial data and reports.
- Demonstrates accountability for all financial tasks and aligns with organizational values.
- Adaptability and Learning Agility: Willingness to stay updated with changes in financial regulations and industry standards.
- Adaptability to evolving financial software, tools, and processes.
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Record all transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage the accounts payable process (invoicing, payments to vendors).
- Monitor accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of payments.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the company’s budget.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare tax returns for review of Senior Accountant (e.g., VAT, corporate tax).
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with relevant financial laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
- Audit & Internal Controls: Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is available and accurate.
- Adhere to the processes and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
- Coordinate with auditors and other third-party professionals as and when needed.
- Cash Flow Management: Assist in managing bank accounts, reconciliations statements and ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Other Duties: Support the finance team with ad hoc projects or tasks as necessary.
- Stay up to date with accounting regulations and best practices.
- Education: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CMA or Partly qualified CA/ CPA preferred).
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Industry experience: F&B is a must.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP,) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain financial matters clearly.
