Lecturer in General Chemistry

CATEGORY: Faculty Members, College of Sciences Department: Chemistry

Job Purpose

A self-motivated and proactive Lecturer in General Chemistry or a closely related area with experience in teaching Remedial Chemistry and Practical Chemistry courses (labs) at the higher education/university level and hands-on experience in Wet Chemistry and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Teach theoretical and practical courses in Chemistry.
Provide academic and professional advice to students.
Contribute to curriculum and program development.
Contribute to the academic assessment processes.
Contribute to community services, outreach activities, and students’ extracurricular activities.
Coordinate laboratory activities and teaching.
Manage and maintain instrumentation.
Contribute to the development of instructional methodologies using IT and AI protocols.
Ensure health and safety procedures are implemented and updated.

Required Skills

MSc. degree in Chemistry from a reputable/recognized academic institution.
Fluency in the English language in both writing and orally.
At least 1 year of teaching Chemistry experimental/practical labs at the university level.
Proficiency in using various Chemistry techniques and instruments.
Preferred experience in IR, NMR, Raman, and XPS instruments.
Experience in Industrial Chemistry, Food Chemistry, and Quality Control.
Preferred knowledge in data acquisition using LabView.
