How You’ll Make An Impact
- Expertly melt and pour Babbitt metal into molds or fixtures.
- Skillfully use tools such as torches, ladles, and hand scrapers to shape and smooth bearing surfaces.
- Operate and maintain centrifugal Babbitt machines with precision.
- Perform NDT (PT) on bearings to ensure quality and safety.
- Read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during the babbitting process efficiently.
- Adapt to working with various types of machinery and bearings.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials used in the babbitting process.
- Perform TIG welding as required in the babbitting process.
- Execute static pouring techniques for Babbitt metal applications.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding, machining, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in babbitting, white metal work, and operating centrifugal machines. Experience with TIG welding and static pouring is highly desirable.
- Possess basic welding skills to assist in the babbitting process when necessary.
- Understand different types of Babbitt alloys and their properties.
- Be familiar with the machinery and equipment used in the babbitting process.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve technical challenges.
