Messer Cutting Systems offers innovative software programs that effectively streamline processes. Our software solutions are the effective link between our customer’s machine and commercial products. As the Application Support Engineer, you will provide technical and functional customer support of our various software applications through phone support and in-person & remote customer training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide remote, in-house, and on-site customer training and support on machine operation, process optimization, and CAD/CAM programming software. Delivering remote, in-house, and on-site training to customers requires an average of 50% travel, with the potential for higher levels as needed. Collaborate cross-functionally to develop new product lines prior to launching Manage enhancement and bug fix lists and test software after changes and upgrades Database development (Laser focused) Effectively communicate during extensive interaction with customers Develop knowledge base articles and other training materials Conduct equipment, software demonstrations and presentations to prospective customers Work closely with other departments to ensure products are delivered on time and meet all customer requirements Participate in continuous improvement projects and proactively maintain collaborative relationships. Support a global network by effective communication skills across geographic, cultural, cross-functional, and organizational differences Attend trade shows to represent the company and products Other duties/responsibilities as directed by the manager An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. MINIMUM EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree in related field preferred 3 or more years of experience with laser cutting machinery preferred Experience cleaning and changing laser cutting heads Database/Parameter development Advanced understanding of G&M code ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS experience preferred Knowledge of CNC equipment preferred Knowledge of material handling systems preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with good organizational skills and the flexibility and adaptability to work on multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail Strong communication and presentation skills required Self-starter with determination for completing tasks A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT: Steel-toe shoes Eye protection WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
