About Mango Hill State Secondary College

We are one of Queensland's newest secondary schools, having opened our gates with cohorts in Years 7 and 8 in January 2020. Since that time, our college has grown by one year level each year, with our first full cohort of students from Year 7 to Year 12 in 2024. Along with our new building programs, we are building a committed, professional and dynamic teaching staff that will challenge and engage our young people, to allow them to explore the world around them in a safe and supportive learning environment.

About the Role

Applicants will have demonstrated experience in leading curriculum and teaching and learning in HPE curriculum. As an instructional leader, the Head of Department - HPE, will play a key role in the development, implementation, and quality assurance of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA Senior Curriculum whilst embedding the College's pedagogical framework and practices. They will work with the Leadership Team to lead a culture of continuous improvement in a collaborative and collegial learning community. As the Head of Department - HPE, you will have responsibility for the following:
  • Lead the College department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
