- Network Security Design and Implementation : Design, configure, and implement security measures to protect the network from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats. This includes firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Monitoring and Threat Detection : Continuously monitor network traffic and security alerts to detect and respond to potential security incidents. Use security information and event management (SIEM) systems to track and analyze network activity.
- Risk Assessment and Vulnerability Management : Perform regular vulnerability assessments and security audits. Identify and mitigate risks associated with network infrastructure, and ensure that patches and security updates are applied.
- Incident Response : Lead or assist in the response to network security incidents, including analyzing breaches, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing corrective actions.
- Firewall and VPN Management : Administer firewalls, VPNs, and other security tools to ensure network traffic is filtered, secure, and encrypted where necessary.
- Collaboration with IT and Security Teams : Work closely with IT staff, security professionals, and vendors to ensure proper network security configurations and policies are in place.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain thorough documentation of network security processes, incident reports, configurations, and other security-related activities. Provide regular reports on security status and issues to upper management.
- Compliance : Ensure that network security practices align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Security Best Practices and Awareness : Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in network security and apply security best practices to the organization's infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Network Security Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on network security.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.), routing, and switching.
- Expertise in configuring and managing network security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and encryption technologies.
- Experience with security technologies and platforms (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, etc.).
- Knowledge of network security architecture, risk management, and threat intelligence.
- Familiarity with security standards and frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective security strategies.
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security, or other network security certifications, are highly preferred
