Design Engineer

Years of experience needed – 9-10 Years Technical Skills:

• Cisco switches/routers running NXOS and ACI Strong understanding on hardware & software life cycle management
• Cisco APIC GUI and API
• Network configurations using VXLAN, BGP, IPSec VPN, NAT, hybrid cloud/data centre, service provider connections
• IP Multicast
• Experience of CI/CD deployment pipelines for network infrastructure - GIThub/Ansible
• Python programming, Jinja2 templates, Ansible playbooks
• Knowledge of Firewalls (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, ASA), F5 load balancers, ASM, Network Visibility, Packet Aggregators, Data flow analysis
• Experience of designing and supporting DNS, IPAM and DHCP infrastructures including Infoblox

Essential Skills:

• Significant experience in a design role in a complex network infrastructure.
• Experience of working in project teams.
• Experience in end to end troubleshooting of network issues.

Key Responsibilities: Ownership of Network Design within infrastructure delivery projects. Work with stakeholders to gather and validate technical requirements and ensure resilience, support and operability requirements are included. Lead the analysis, definition, design and testing of medium to large infrastructures. Provide 3rd level support for the initial production deployment of new capabilities and ongoing 3rd level escalation support during normal working hours. Work closely with peer team members in a distributed organisation ensuring architectural cohesion and strategic technical alignment and act as oversight and escalation for other teams. Provides consultancy to Application development, Service Management and Architecture teams; communicating clearly to technical and business audience. A subject matter expert in a technical area of the network infrastructure for example routing/switching, security, network services, scripting. Define lifecycle management strategies for hardware and software. Maintain and update technical documentation functioning as reference/standards/best practice material. Research, test and validate potential solutions in order to meet future requirements based on a provided technical strategy. Produce high and low level designs and work with implementation teams to deliver them. Work on multiple projects in parallel providing regular updates to multiple stakeholders and prioritising as business requires.
