JOB SUMMARY The Vice Principal is accountable to the Principal and Director of Education for the conduct, management and administration of the Middle & Senior Years. He / She would work closely with the Curriculum and Team Empowerment at the Core Office and be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team offering strategic and operational support. The Vice Principal is responsible for supporting the Principal in the short and medium term strategic development of the Middle & Senior Years and acts as a Deputy when the Principal is offsite. The Vice Principal is responsible for managing the policies, regulations and procedures of the Department to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. The Vice Principal reports to the Principal on matters relating to the school and provides guidance, accountability and support to all heads of sections. The Vice Principal will ensure that effective transition between sections for all students happens effectively. Main Roles & Responsibilities : Leadership and Climate: 1. Work effectively with the School’s Principal, Director of Education and Core Team to collaborate on and implement the school’s development plan. 2. Continue to raise the quality of teaching and learning for students, maximizing their achievements within a successful learning culture. 3. To support the Principal in leading and holding the Middle & Senior Years and MLT accountable towards achieving its short and medium-term goals within a structured system that supports the growth and progress of all school staff, community and pupils. 4. To model high professional expectations and to be a positive role model and help others recognize and respect diversity. 5. Provide vision, leadership and direction in accordance with the school ethos. Curriculum: 1. To support best practice in all academic areas of the school. 2. Lead on data analysis across the school. 3. To keep abreast of changing standards and how they impact on student learning School Organization and Staffing: 1. Manpower Planning, Forecast expected strength and teacher requirement for the next session / academic year in collaboration with Deputy Heads of Middle & Senior Years, HODs and Coordinators. 2. Participate in the selection process of teachers through class demo, interview and rest of the activities. 3. Review Succession Plans of Deputy Heads / Coordinators / HODs with Principal in Middle & Senior Years. 4. Provide effective Organization and management of the school and identify ways of improving organizational structures and functions based on rigorous self-evaluation. Evaluation and Professional Development: 1. Evaluate Department performance and identify priorities for continuous improvement. 2. Promote the professional and academic growth of Middle & Senior Years through staff meetings, in-service training and personal contact. 3. Monitoring performance / KPI of Deputy Heads, HODs & Coordinators. 4. Initiate and support research and debate about effective learning and teaching and develop relevant strategies for performance improvement. Communication and Public Relations: 1. Collaborates with other colleagues across the Shiv Nadar family of schools 2. Work collaboratively to create a shared vision and strategic plan which inspires and motivates students, staff and all other members of the school community and to develop the ethos of the school linked to its core aims and values 3. Engage in a dialogue which builds partnerships and community consensus on values, beliefs and shared responsibilities, listen to, reflect and act on community feedback.
