Location: North West, Tasmania The Role:

  • We are seeking a motivated Registrar – Palliative Care. In this role, on a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for liaising and collaborating with other treating clinicians for both public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital, Aged Care and Community settings.
  • The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) – North West Region is an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our community in Tasmania’s beautiful North West.
  • The Rural Generalist Palliative Care Registrar position is accredited by the GP colleges and Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
  • Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) - 12 months Advanced Specialised Training term in Palliative Care to train registrars on all ACRRM pathways.
  • Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) - 6 months Extended Skills training and 12 months Advanced Skills training.
  • RACP - accreditation for Foundations in Palliative Medicine.
  • THS – North West Region also has a close working relationship with the University of Tasmania’s Rural Clinical School.
The Team: Comprises of four palliative care consultants, and currently two other palliative care registrars. The medical practitioners work across the MCH and NWRH, as well as the community, alongside palliative care nursing staff. Details of appointment: Multiple, Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 1 February 2026. You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata. Salary: Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930- $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Enrolled in the relevant speciality training program.
