Technical Support Specialist - Solar

Our client is seeking an Electrical BoP Technical Support Specialist to join their Solar Technologies team. This role will be reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the successful candidate will have a strategic and results-driven mindset, bringing extensive experience in electrical engineering, specifically within the renewable energy sector. You will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of our solar power generation fleet, with a focus on electrical balance of plant, control and instrumentation (EC&I), and SCADA systems. This role requires a technical expert who can collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a solid background in power plant environments, project management, and stakeholder engagement is essential for success. Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with multiple plant managers to optimize performance and reliability of all electrical balance of plant systems.
• Lead technology projects aimed at delivering innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
• Ensure electrical systems meet regulatory, statutory, and industry standards.
• Supervise the maintenance and operation of grid connectivity, LV, MV, HV substations, earthing, lightning protection, and protection systems.
• Oversee the integration and interface of electrical systems with SCADA technology from solar arrays to main evacuation substations.
• Manage ad-hoc engineering projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery from planning to execution.
• Contribute technical expertise to the development of maintenance strategies for electrical equipment.
• Develop and implement processes for predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment.
• Provide technical support for fault identification and resolution, performing root cause analysis on electrical component failures.
• Create troubleshooting guides and process documents for electrical components across the plants.
• Conduct statistical monitoring and reporting of electrical equipment failures, evaluating both technical and economic impacts.
• Work with other Technical Support Specialists to analyze plant issues and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist in preparing technical specifications for tender documents and evaluate bids for maintenance agreements.
• Ensure compatibility of spare parts and analyze failures related to replaced materials.
• Provide remote technical support for electrical infrastructure in coordination with the main Control Room.
• Supervise testing and validation of new electrical and control system technologies.
• Provide training on electrical systems and equipment troubleshooting for site personnel.
• Report on business progress, technical challenges, and engage with stakeholders as needed.
• Conduct site visits to oversee EBOP installations and ensure operational effectiveness.

• BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Technology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical and/or renewable energy industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in the technical operations and maintenance of LV, MV, and HV electrical equipment, preferably in a power generation plant.
