Job Purpose Quantum is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will assist in managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring budgets are adhered to and costs are controlled. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with limited experience to develop their career in quantity surveying within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQs) based on project drawings and specifications.
- Track project costs and provide regular updates to senior staff and project teams.
- Support the preparation of tender documents and assist in the procurement process by evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Assist in managing contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, measure completed works, and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Identify and report on cost-related risks and propose solutions to mitigate them.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial aspects of the project, including invoices, valuations, and change orders.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience or internship in a construction or quantity surveying role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
- Willingness to travel to various construction sites.
