SITE SUPERVISOR

The primary purpose of the security supervisor is to ensure that the security team is performing their duties according to the set standards so that the team may safeguard the staff and customers and to protect the merchandise, goods, property and physical assets from theft, robbery or any event that could lead to loss or damage.

The supervisor is a junior manager who supports management in achieving the required needs of the site by managing the ground force.

Role and responsibilities

  • Supervising a team of security officers ensuring the best possible service delivery
  • Inducting new personnel ensuring they are aware of site security procedures
  • Directing the team in incident management and conflict resolution
  • Completing effective health & safety assessments, risk assessments and site evaluations
  • Supporting and developing team members in the performance of their duties, managing poor performance as required
  • Plan and schedule daily staff rotation requirements and ensure that officers are relieved for tea and lunch times.
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the site policies, procedures and standards.
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections to check on staff performance at their posts.
  • Maintain daily records such as the OB, Incidents reports, registers, documents and files.
  • Investigate incidents, non-compliance and poor performance and provide reports in relation.
  • Communicate with management daily on all matters relating to security and
  • Constantly evaluating risks / threats and making recommendations to the Client to counter these.
  • Ensuring that contractual requirements are met as stipulated by the Client.
  • Maintaining good relations between the company and the Client with regard to security services rendered.
  • Submitting relevant weekly / monthly incident and general reports as required by the client and company.
  • Additional ADHOC Duties
Skills and experience

Ideally, we’re looking for people with
  • Prior experience of working in a similar supervisory role, ideally within the security industry
  • Ability to lead a team
  • A valid security industry licence or accepted certificate of security competence
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, interacting both internally and externally
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to successfully supervise a team
  • Track record of working in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness and self-confidence.
  • Good understanding/knowledge of security operations, rules and protocols
  • Ability to work without supervision and under pressure.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Grade 12
  • Valid South African ID
  • PSIRA registered, minimum Grade “B” accreditation
  • Supervisory training and experience
  • Clear criminal record
  • Minimum 3 years proven track record as a security officer.
  • 2 year as a grade “B” officer.
  • 3-year supervisory experience.
  • Practical experience in building security such as access control, patrols, observations, searching, asset control, traffic control and responding to security incidents
  • Emergency evacuations and Fire Drills.
