Job Overview

We are looking for a Cloudflare Performance Engineer with expertise in WordPress speed optimization, caching strategies, and high-performance web hosting. This role focuses on maximizing site speed, improving Core Web Vitals, and optimizing Cloudflare configurations for lead generation websites. The ideal candidate understands how to configure Cloudflare’s caching, security, and performance settings to create a fast, scalable, and AI-friendly website.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloudflare Performance & Caching Optimization:
   • Set up and optimize Cloudflare APO (Automatic Platform Optimization) for WordPress.
   • Enable Brotli compression, Early Hints, and TLS 1.3.
   • Optimize Cloudflare cache rules & page rules for faster site performance.
   • Implement Polish (WebP conversion) and Mirage (mobile image optimization).
   • Use Argo Smart Routing to reduce latency & improve Time to First Byte (TTFB).
   • Ensure proper preloading, prefetching, and lazy loading of assets.
2. WordPress & Hosting Performance Optimization:
   • Optimize WordPress caching (Breeze, WP Rocket, or other solutions).
   • Improve server response times & reduce TTFB using Cloudflare’s CDN.
   • Configure Cloudflare DNS settings for low latency & fast global resolution.
   • Work with hosting providers (e.g., Cloudways, Kinsta, WP Engine) to improve server performance.
   • Optimize MariaDB/MySQL queries & Redis caching for better database performance.
   • Resolve Real IP detection issues to ensure accurate analytics & logs.
3. Core Web Vitals & AI Search Optimization:
   • Improve LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift), and FID.
   • Use Cloudflare Workers or Transform Rules to optimize JavaScript & CSS delivery.
   • Implement structured data & schema optimizations to improve AI search discoverability.
   • Configure Cloudflare settings for Googlebot, Perplexity AI, and ChatGPT indexing.

Qualifications

• Proven experience optimizing Cloudflare for high-performance WordPress websites.
• Expertise in Cloudflare APO, Argo, Brotli, Mirage, Polish, and cache optimizations.
• Strong understanding of WordPress performance tuning and Core Web Vitals.
• Familiarity with MariaDB/MySQL and Redis optimizations.
• Ability to configure Cloudflare’s caching policies, page rules, and DNS optimizations.
• Experience working with hosting environments (e.g., Cloudways, Kinsta, WP Engine).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cloudflare Workers for advanced caching/logic.
• Knowledge of structured data & schema markup for AI-powered search.
• Familiarity with Google Lighthouse, WebPageTest, or similar performance benchmarks.
• Collaborative experience with SEO Team to prevent over-optimization that affects SEO.
