Position Description The Low Voltage (LV) Planning Team is responsible for the development of the low voltage distribution network to enable the Irish Government's National Climate Action Plan targets and ESB Network's "Networks for Net Zero" Strategy with a particular focus on the areas of electrification of heat and transport; connection of renewables and development of LV policies and standards. The LV Electrical Standards Lead plays a key role in this by ensuring that these documents are reviewed and developed in line with the constantly changing needs of our customers in relation to the adoption of Low Carbon Technology (LCT) in both new and existing premises connected to the LV network. Key Responsibilities Reviewing, redefining and ensuring all LV electrical design standards, policies and procedures are in line with our Networks for Net Zero Strategy and adapting to constantly changing external factors. This includes understanding, assessing, and accounting for the impact of LCT uptake. Leading in the assessment, consideration, and analysis required of existing or emergent data sets (external and internal) relevant to LV design. Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the Asset Management department (including overhead lines, underground cables, and protection) Commercial and Smart Metering teams, in support of introducing changes to LV design standards, policies and procedures. Managing the updating of documents through the internal document management system and process. Development of new/updated design tools and processes which support the implementation of the revised design standards. Train/brief out new LV design standards in collaboration with the Networks Training Centre Support local design team members with non-standard LV SI designs. Management of any 3rd party consultants/contractors required to provide specialist advice related to LV design standards. Represent ESB Networks as an expert in the area of LV standards/policy on international utility working groups. Build and maintain strong relationships with other key external stakeholders - industry, peer groups, etc. Author internal and external technical articles, reports and presentation of the work ESB Networks is doing to accommodate electrification at external webinars and seminars, supporting the demonstration to policy makers, senior management and staff that ESB Networks is successfully working to enable electrification. Experience and Qualifications Essential A primary degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience. 8+ years relevant work experience. Knowledge and experience of distribution system asset management, utility Company Standards in particular for the MV/LV system for both Over Head and Under Ground Network. Highly skilled in creating technical documentation, report writing and communication to varied audiences. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience leading cross functional initiatives, to solve problems and to get the job done with a clear focus on delivery to project safety, time, quality, and cost objectives. Experience in providing on the job training and knowledge sharing with junior/new team members. Ability to delegate and assign work to others to ensure on time completion of work in line with priorities. Self-motivated with ability toplan and communicate requirements to progress new initiatives,and a track record ofdelivering of work/and or projects. Demonstration of strong stakeholder management skills, both internal and external. Familiarity with using key engineering/business systems and tools for example SAP and GIS systems Desirable A high level understanding of ESB Networks business, structure, processes and commercial operating model. Experience with using a document management system and process. Knowledge of CRU, TSO, industry, including government policies and Climate Action Plan. Familiar with project management tools and techniques Experience in risk management; the identification, assessment, mitigation, tracking, control and management of project risks. Location Leopardstown, Dublin or Wilton, Cork. The successful candidate may combine remote/smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
