Our Team We are the 1st Line of Defence Assurance Team, partnering with our COO business functions to deliver Risk & Control Testing, Mandatory Compliance Assessments and value-adding Assurance Reviews.​​Our intrinsic purpose is to objectively assess and report on our organisation’s ability to manage Risk and Comply with Internal Standards / Industry Standards / Regulation, whilst driving continual improvement to enable Virgin Money to be the best version of itself in our goal to Make Customers Happier about Money. What you’ll be doing
- Leading on the provision of value-adding, insightful and articulate analysis and reporting.
- Accountable for the ongoing reporting of progress of the Assurance Programme.
- Responsible for the ongoing reporting of Risk Issues raised by the A&C team and acting as a point of escalation.
- Driving continual improvement within the team through delivery of improvement initiatives, coaching, organising training and providing oversight to drive high quality outputs.
- Acting as a Senior leader within the team to support the department to meet our objectives.
- Deputising for the Head of Assurance when necessary.
- Building trusted relationships with your key stakeholders.
- Significant experience in Assurance including Internal Audit, External Audit, 1st Line Assurance & Control Testing.
- Professional Certification in a Risk Management, Assurance or Audit related field. (e.g. Institute of Risk Management, Chartered Quality Institute, Institute of Internal Auditors etc).
- Tangible experience of leading the delivery of Assurance Reviews including time spent in a lead role overseeing others.
- Expert capability in the embedment of Risk Management principles and delivery of Assurance Reviews.
- Successful leadership skills to model our values and behaviours.
- Proven people management capability.
- Demonstrable capability in Reporting & Data Analysis (analytical expert, it has been an important part of their role, they have had a dedicated reporting role at some point etc)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate with influence.
- Experience in banking or financial services.
- Some background in / training which includes Continual Improvement or Lean Six Sigma would be advantageous.
- Varied background, either working across industries / different departments would be preferable.
