Job Description JOB REQUISITES Role Summary WSP India is currently seeking an Intermediate CAD Technician – Mechanical/Material Handling (CAD Designer) for Australia Mining Infrastructre Projects (Materials Handling Infrastructure). They shall be responsible for creating and editing drawings / Models in compliance with WSP CAD and Client Standards utilizing MicroStation Connect software. Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset. A Team player and willing to work collaboratively with a motivated and highly successful team in Australia Responsibilities This role is for a Senior Mechanical/Material Handling Designer on mining projects.

  • A Mechanical/Material Handling Designer with expertise in drafting material handling equipment to prepare drawings and documents under the guidance of the Lead Designer.
  • Prepare General Arrangement and design detail drawings, for both new and brownfield mines using Bentley MicroStation.
  • Knowledge and experience of MicroStation 2D, 3D and Navisworks.
  • Shop detailing experience with respect to Chutes, hoppers, bins, and conveyor components would be an asset.
  • Must complete a high-quality self-check of own work with efficiency. Shall follow internal QC processes.
  • Perform review of engineering drawings, as per markups made by the Checkers. Verify to ensure drawing.
  • modifications are accurately and correctly conducted.
  • Reporting progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor. Understands the project schedule and budget requirements.
  • Communicate with internal peers and project team and required to answer questions regarding deliverables.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
  • Coordinating with Australian lead offices as per project requirement.
  • Be able to perform Material Take-Offs with Bentley MicroStation and excel.
  • Actively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
  • Ensuring that quality procedures are implemented and maintained.
  • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Lead Designer.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
  • Develop expertise and stay up to date of developments in Drafting skills.
  • Support the company’s approach to sustainability.
  • Be able to communicate in a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Be willing to learn and be polyvalent.
  • Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP service to clients. Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.

  • Maintain strong colleague relationships and contribute to the teams’ performance of client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums.
  • Remain up to date with market and competitor knowledge.
Key Competencies Mandatory Skills We anticipate you will have an interest in the following areas:
  • To contribute to growing Mining Infrastructure Teams with CAD related works using Autodesk AUTOCADS/Bentley MicroStation.
  • You will also be computer literate with a reasonable proficiency in MS office suite and Navisworks.
  • Having a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind, and good English
  • communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Coordinating his/her work with other members of the Team.
  • Work competently with minimal supervision or on an individual basis.
  • The candidate must have a valid passport.

Desired Skills
  • Preference will be given to candidates with minimum 6-10 year of experience in a consulting.
firm in mineral processing using Bentley MicroStation and ProjectWise.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with shop detailing experience of Chutes, Bins, Hoppers, and conveyor components. E.g. trusses
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.
  • Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset.
Qualifications
  • 3-8 years of experience in Mechanical 2D/3D drafting and modeling.
  • Minimum of a Diploma in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to the detail.
  • Familiar with working in a LEAN environment.
  • Experience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English.
  • Experience with Navisworks, Vault, BIM 360 or Bentley Open Plant and ProjectWise.
