We are working with a leading shipping company in Dubai, specializing in dry bulk commodities and operating a diverse fleet across key global trade routes. The company focuses on providing innovative shipping solutions with a client-centric approach, maintaining long-term partnerships with charterers, owners, and brokers. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Dry Bulk Chartering Manager with expertise across managing various vessel sizes; handymax, supramax, kamsarmax. The ideal candidate will be responsible for securing profitable cargoes, negotiating charter parties, and developing long-term client relationships. This role is critical in optimizing vessel utilization, managing market risks, and contributing to the company’s overall growth. Key Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis & Business Development:
- Monitor dry bulk markets, focusing on variety of sizes, routes and commodities.
- Identify new cargo opportunities and develop relationships with key clients, brokers, and stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of global trade trends, port developments, and regulatory changes impacting the dry bulk sector.
- Source and negotiate charter parties for various vessels, ensuring optimal revenue and risk mitigation.
- Develop voyage estimates, assess risks, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with agreed terms, contracts, and chartering procedures.
- Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, owners, and brokers.
- Act as a point of contact for operational and commercial issues throughout the voyage.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular reports on market developments, chartering activities, and financial performance.
- Maintain accurate records of charter parties, voyage results, and performance metrics.
- Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in dry bulk chartering, with a proven track record in operating vessels efficiently.
- Strong network of charterers, cargo owners, and brokers in the dry bulk market.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in chartering software and voyage estimation tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Deep understanding of the dry bulk market, including routes, commodities, and pricing.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build long-term partnerships.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented.
