Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and perform thorough physical examinations to diagnose urological conditions. Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood tests, urinalysis, imaging, and biopsies.
- Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment plans for patients, which may include medications, minimally invasive procedures, or surgical interventions.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform surgical procedures when necessary, such as kidney stone removal, prostate surgery, bladder surgery, and vasectomy.
- Counseling: Provide patients with information about their conditions, treatment options, and potential side effects. Offer guidance on lifestyle changes and preventive measures.
- Monitoring and Follow-up: Monitor the progress of patients undergoing treatment, adjust treatment plans as needed, and conduct follow-up appointments to assess outcomes and provide ongoing care.
- Emergency Care: Respond to urological emergencies, such as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and urological trauma, with timely and effective interventions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other medical professionals, including primary care physicians, radiologists, oncologists, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Research and Education: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in urology through continuing education and research. Contribute to medical knowledge by conducting research studies and publishing findings.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, diagnostic test results, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ethical and Legal Compliance: Adhere to medical ethics and legal regulations, ensuring patient confidentiality and informed consent.
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency program in urology.
- State medical license and board certification in urology.
- Strong diagnostic and surgical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion and empathy in patient care.
- Commitment to patient safety and ethical standards.
- Ability to work in a team-based healthcare environment.
