About the role

The VMO - GP Obstetrician will be a valued member of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team and forms part of the maternity service’s medical staffing model. The service provision includes:
  1. Medical care of patients admitted under the Obstetrics Unit.
  2. Referral of any patients to Specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology (O&G) for either opinion or provision of ongoing care.
  3. Co-management of obstetric patients admitted in Albury Wodonga Health (AWH). Providing supervision, support and teaching to GP Obstetrics Registrar.
  4. Supervision, education or working with medical, nursing and allied health staff at AWH.
We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity:
  1. Provide timely, cost-efficient and effective Obstetrics services to patients admitted to AWH, with full working knowledge of all the associated clinical issues.
  2. Participate and attend rounds, reviews, assessments, or handover sessions punctually, and in accordance with standard practices adopted by Maternity Services.
  3. Initiate, implement and monitor management of patients, incorporating the appropriate testing and investigation.
  4. Facilitate timely admission and discharge of all patients in accordance with hospital policy.
  5. Participation in prescribed roster and on-call responsibilities.
  6. Ensure high-risk patients are referred to the Specialist O&G, in accordance with current policy, protocols, or best practices in place.
  7. Ensure appropriate documentation and entries as per prevailing standard practice.
