About the Role This exciting role, reporting to the Director, Legal Services (HASS), supports the University's dynamic property portfolio across seven campuses. Joining a smart and dynamic property and construction practice, this is a broad property role involving a wide range of matters including developments, multi-faceted major projects, sales and acquisitions, stakeholder agreements, funding arrangements and ancillary commercial dealings, as well as Crown land management, property and land taxes advice work. The role also involves work on leases, licences and some front-end construction matters. You will be encouraged to provide technically aware and commercially focused legal advice and to work closely with clients and other lawyers in the team to develop strategic risk awareness and offer proactive advice. The role demands exceptional self-management and stakeholder management skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local government and statutory authorities as well as external legal providers. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering high-quality legal and strategic advice.
• Drafting and negotiating agreements, and managing complex legal matters autonomously.
• Driving collaboration and excellence through fostering a team-oriented culture, promoting best practices and ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
• Developing and maintaining effective client relationships.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, proactively identifying and managing legal risks.

Who we are looking for The University legal team fosters a positive and team-oriented environment and realizes you will have a life outside of the law. You should currently be working at a recognised, quality property practice or as an in-house property lawyer and you should have at least five years post-admission experience, with at least four years experience working in property law. Experience working for both public and private sector clients is desirable. This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
