We have an exciting opportunity to join the Corrections Intelligence team, as an Intelligence Officer, based at Waikeria Prison. Reporting to the Manager Regional Intelligence, the Intelligence Officer role is an integral part of the intelligence team tasked to provide quality actionable intelligence to support Hōkai Rangi and help to protect victims, prevent criminal activity, and support staff safety. We are after a hardworking person with an understanding of operational and tactical intelligence. You will apply your operational experience to help collect information in order to help prevent harm and manage future risk, including the prevention and detection of criminal activity in prisons. Through the development, coordination and maintenance of an integrated network you will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of information and intelligence to support your team and decision-makers. To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A sound understanding of the principles and methodologies of the Intelligence Cycle and Intelligence collection plans and processes.
  • The credibility, integrity, and personality to establish and maintain strong relationships internal and external to the Department.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in interviewing.
  • Knowledge of the legislation governing information collection, storage, dissemination, and use.
  • Ability to work in a team, while being responsible for your own tasks and wider collaborative tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
Ideally the preferred candidate will have an interest in intelligence and an understanding of the operating environment. Possessing an ability to evaluate information with a sense of urgency, you will be committed to ensuring the integrity of our operations, elevating concerns before issues arise. A full driver licence is required as travel will be a requirement of this role. The successful applicant must obtain, and maintain, a Secret clearance. The salary range is $82,525 – $89,951 the mid-point which indicates full competence in the role is $86,754. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
