A Cafeteria in Lekki, is seeking an experienced and creative Chef to lead the team in delivering exceptional Cafeteria experiences. The Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, from menu planning and food preparation to staff management and kitchen hygiene. The successful candidates will bring culinary expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for creating memorable and innovative dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development:
- Create and update menus based on seasonal availability, culinary trends, and customer preferences
- Develop innovative and appealing dishes while considering dietary restrictions and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff to maintain consistency and efficiency in food preparation.
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including ordering, stock control, and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor and manage kitchen expenses to meet budgetary goals.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless coordination in food preparation and delivery.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients.
- Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen members on diverse culinary techniques.
Menu Costing and Budgeting
- Develop and manage menu costing to ensure profitability while maintaining quality.
- Contribute to budgeting processes and monitor expenses to meet financial targets.
- Interact with customers to understand preferences and receive feedback, adapting menus accordingly.
- Address customer queries regarding ingredients, preparation methods, and dietary concerns.
- Source and select high-quality ingredients, considering freshness, seasonality, and sustainability.
- Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and diverse supply chain.
- Easily adapt to changes in the culinary landscape and adjust menu offerings accordingly.
- Experiment with fusion concepts to create unique and memorable dining experiences.
- Culinary degree or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a culinary leadership role.
- Strong culinary and creative skills, with a passion for food innovation.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment.
