Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand measurement rules and standard methods (POMI, SMM7, etc.).
  • Review tender documents (drawings, schedules, specifications).
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities based on chosen measurement methods.
  • Gather pricing data and quotations for BOQ items.
  • Assist in negotiating cost assessments with contractors.
  • Evaluate completed works and measure variations for valuation.
  • Prepare cost estimates using historical data or market rates.
  • Assist in negotiation of claims, extensions of time, and contract sums.
  • Value and agree on Variation Orders (VOs).
  • Administer the contract and payment provisions on behalf of the client.
  • Manage the change control process.
  • Understand standard contract forms for construction projects.
  • Assess prolongation costs for compensable extensions of time.
  • Evaluate contractor payment applications and provide recommendations.
  • Understand scheduling principles (GANTT charts, network diagrams, etc.).
  • Analyze project risks and make decisions to minimize impact.
  • Maintain documentation and log sheets for emails and submittals.
  • Follow up on agreed action dates.
  • Understand project design stages and how building elements interrelate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction and design techniques.
  • Report on cost and schedule impacts of design solutions and construction methods.
  • Manage and control project construction costs post-contract.
  • Manage provisional sums, prime costs, dayworks, and risk allowances.
  • Implement change control procedures.
  • Ensure all changes have a contract instruction.
  • Establish protocols for cost reporting.
  • Prepare cash flows and Work-In-Progress reports.
  • Assist with final account statements.
  • Report on contractor progress against planned cash flow.
  • Monitor compliance with the scope of services.
  • Identify and manage potential conflicts of interest.
  • Foster good client relationships.
  • Analyze client briefing data and formulate a detailed client brief.
  • Obtain life cycle cost data considering sustainability.
  • Understand common procurement routes (Traditional, Design & Build).
  • Collect and compile tender documentation (excluding pricing).
  • Assist in tendering and negotiation processes (single & two stage).
  • Evaluate tenders and advise clients on suitable contractors.
  • Use electronic or paper-based filing systems securely.
  • Collect and store project and contract information electronically.
  • Obtain data from various sources for project use.
  • Understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Understand financial results and basic accounting principles.
Requirements: Bachelor Degree / Diploma /Professional Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Architecture or equivalent. Min. 15 years of experience and 8 years in same capacity. #J-18808-Ljbffr
