Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer is a vital role within the Gulf University, Kingdom of Bahrain, responsible for overseeing various departments and ensuring seamless operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the President on key issues affecting the university.
  • Supervise staff administrative activities across the university.
  • Oversee the Finance, Human Resources, IT, Facilities, and Purchasing departments.
  • Facilitate administrative processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement academic strategic planning in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage all financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, and collection processes.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of buildings and grounds, including repairs, construction, and remodeling projects.
  • Oversee all purchases, including instructional materials, furniture, supplies, technology software, etc.
  • Manage staff salaries and benefits, ensuring compliance with government regulations and university policies.
  • Lead personnel operations, including recruitment, contracting, termination, training, development, and induction programs for administrative staff.
  • Take disciplinary actions as necessary and submit an annual report on the University's administrative and financial operations to the President.

Requirements:

  • A high professional reputation.
  • A Ph.D. recognized by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • Appropriate academic and administrative experience.
  • Good conduct and behavior, with no convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude or dishonesty (unless legally rehabilitated).
  • Fitness in terms of health.
  • No acts that would harm the reputation of the Kingdom of Bahrain or its interests at home or abroad.
  • No political affiliations or involvement in political activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High administrative, guiding, and systematic decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective work relationships with staff.
