Career Opportunities: Senior Finance Business Partner (11813) Requisition ID 11813 - Posted - AEMO Office (1) - Accounting/Finance The Finance and Governance (F&G) Division is responsible for all aspects of AEMO’s financial planning, management, commercial support, risk, assurance, compliance, and legal services. You will be a key member of the Digital Leadership Team and will closely collaborate with Senior executives, other Finance Business Partners across the business and be a key link back to the broader Finance organisation. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the Digital Division’s finance and governance activities. You will be responsible for driving excellence and efficiency in financial and operational performance in partnership with the technology General Managers. As a key member of the DLT, you will be a trusted adviser to the Executive General Manager Digital. The role provides sound commercial and finance advice on corporate plan initiatives, digital strategy, business improvement initiatives, digital benchmarking exercises, major project governance, and working closely in driving value with the General Manager of Digital Capabilities Commercial. Responsibilities
  1. Establishing strong relationships with the Executive General Manager Digital, the digital and finance leadership teams, and other relevant stakeholders.
  2. Developing the departmental business plan for Digital, working with the DLT and helping the department prioritise strategic initiatives to deliver within financial envelopes and funding caps.
  3. Providing the Digital team with an understanding of key commercial drivers of financial and operational performance. Developing and delivering insightful reporting to the digital leadership team to track performance against strategic goals, business plans, and budgets, and identify commercial opportunities.
  4. Reviewing and challenging the business on key commercial assumptions and outcomes, including adverse operating performance, major maintenance (lifecycle model), capital expenditure, and cash flows.
  5. Acting as a key finance and governance stakeholder for all new digital business cases and projects, developing reporting to allow for better decision making and delivering analysis to drive commercial outcomes.
  6. Providing input and shaping the strategic asset management plan to drive business decisions on cost and risk optimisation.
Experience and Knowledge
  1. 15+ years of post-qualified experience, with extensive experience in technology finance and business partnering with executive stakeholders including CTOs, CIOs, and Executive Leadership teams.
  2. Extensive knowledge of operational technology costs, drivers, and commercial constructs, as well as digital technology projects and concepts, including asset capitalisation of major programs involving hardware and software development; project cost tracking (including labour); contract negotiation and costing.
  3. Planning, budgeting, and forecasting skills, with the ability to identify and analyse commercial opportunities to reduce costs, assess project financial outcomes, and benchmark operational performance.
  4. Ability to build driver-based forecasting and reporting, as well as analysing and assessing financial/commercial merits of strategic initiatives and their alignment with AEMO’s corporate goals.
  5. Proven experience in the preparation of capital investment/business cases and associated financial assessments.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders and form strong, collaborative relationships.
Education and Certificates
  1. Degree in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Professional accreditation (e.g., CPA, ICA, CFA, Master of Applied Finance).
