Position status: Fixed Term Temporary Position type: Full-time Occupational group: Education & Training Classification: AO5 Workplace Location: Wide Bay Job ad reference: QLD/NCR617959/25T Closing date: 17-Feb-2025 Job duration: A period of 24 months, unless otherwise determined As the Family Support Coordinator, you will work with classroom teachers, school support staff, and Early Childhood Coordinators (where available) to establish safe, welcoming learning environments. Coordinators will assist the school team to support children and families successfully transition into school from early childhood services, facilitate access to learning or engagement support to help establish positive patterns of school attendance, behavior, and engagement in learning, and link families to external government and non-government supports and services to reduce barriers to learning for students. This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 2 years, unless otherwise determined. Three positions are being recruited for located in the North Coast Region: - Position 1 - Norville SS as the based school location for a cluster of schools (Norville SS, Bundaberg South SS, Childers SS, and Kalkie SS)
- Position 2 - Hervey Bay Special School
- Position 3 - Maryborough Special School
Applicants are asked to nominate and preference their preferred location in the attached questionnaire. Responsibilities include: - Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides, and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect families with services, such as health, therapeutic, and developmental interventions to support engagement with learning.
- Identify children and families needing assistance to access specialist interventions early and facilitate strong connections with school and linkages to other services, including supporting engagement with the NDIS.
- Build family capacity to support their child's learning, development, and wellbeing, ongoing engagement in school, and assist state schools to respond to the increasingly complex needs of students and families.
- Bring expertise into school communities about vulnerable children and families and their needs to facilitate engagement in learning and improved learning outcomes.
It is important you are able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of support services to students with disability. Experience working in a culturally responsive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches is advantageous. Knowledge of the region's demographic and local service providers and agency supports would be highly regarded. Mandatory requirements: - Hold a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
- Hold a current driver's licence.
- Be required to work some after hours.
