The Role The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for oversight of all medical aspects of clinical trial activities at Doherty Clinical Trials to support the implementation of clinical trials. This role requires oversight of the medical officer team and medical activities, encompassing bidding for and evaluating projects, pre-study conduct, patient screening, study conduct, management of Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events, through to close out of the clinical trial database. The Chief Medical Officer will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Doherty Clinical Trials leadership team, including the Nurse Unit Director, and other clinical staff to ensure that participant safety is paramount, that all activities are in complete GCP compliance, that trial protocol adherence is complete, and that unit standard operating procedures are adhered to. The Chief Medical Officer will also oversee multiple clinical trials varying in complexity, with overlapping timelines, and may be required to be involved in all aspects of the participant experience across the clinical trial. You will possess:

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia (AHPRA)
  • Medical indemnity insurance
  • Experience engaging with commercial and academic sponsors
  • Current GCP Certificate
  • Understanding of participant care within a clinical trial/research setting
  • Understanding of early phase clinical research

  • Previous experience as Principal Investigator or Chief Medical Officer highly desirable
