- Sydney based - Northern beaches The Organisation Stewart House is an independent charity providing services to improve life outcomes for young people from NSW and ACT public schools. The majority of them have had multiple adverse childhood experiences and are more vulnerable to developing mental health issues. Every year 1,800 students attend the Stewart House safe haven residential program of up to 12 days duration, at no cost to their parents or carers. During the program experiential learning is embedded within a health and wellbeing framework, together with dental, optical, hearing and medical screening and treatment. A school on site is staffed and run by the NSW Department of Education. Stewart House funding comes from workplace giving, donations from public schools, charitable trusts, corporate supporters and individual donors. Stewart House has had a positive impact on the lives of over 10,000 students in the last ten years alone. The Role As CEO you will provide strategic leadership ensuring the achievement of organisational vision and objectives and build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the board, school leadership, donors, government departments, volunteer supporters and external providers. Crucially you will lead and develop a high performing team through a changed environment, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability. You will oversee the continued design, development and implementation of programs and services evaluating effectiveness and ensuring necessary adjustments. You will also be responsible for overseeing all income generation including a major philanthropy focused fundraising initiative in the early stages of development. Skills Required You're an experienced or first time CEO from an education, youth, mentoring or community services environment, ideally with networks across education, government and community sectors. You have a broad skillset that ranges from service creation, delivery and analysis to an understanding of the various methods of fundraising and philanthropy or are able to demonstrate success in generating organisational income and business development. Your operational management skills are at the core of your success, and you're a skilled advocate and networker who is comfortable being the public face of the organisation including seeking and participating in public speaking and community engagement opportunities. You also have the following capabilities:
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop a high performing team
- Experience with corporate governance and working with a board of directors
- Strong financial management and budgeting experience
- Strategic planning, leadership and organisational development skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
