Discover the Opportunity We have a unique opportunity available to join Opal as the General Manager for our Cartons business in NZ, based in Auckland. This role is responsible for the overall performance of the Cartons New Zealand business unit, measured through a budgeted P&L, the safe and good operations of two food grade manufacturing sites (in Auckland and Christchurch) and the supply, demand and sales requirements of the customers across New Zealand. This business currently holds significant market share for New Zealand, with just over 150 team members across the two sites. The key to success in this role will be:- Continuing to develop upon the Cartons New Zealand strategy and maintain our leading market share for New Zealand, through our customer centric approach, outstanding service, quality product and great people.
- Leading our people with Opal Values front of mind, with a key focus on a positive safety culture and outcomes.
- Equipping the business with the capability to fully utilise its strengths in manufacturing and customer centricity.
- Enabling the business to maintain existing customers as well as growing and attracting new business.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. finance/accounting, business, engineering, marketing) or a proven and demonstrable track record in these areas and a commitment to learning and personal development.
- The capability, drive and energy to take a great business and make it even greater by ‘leading from the front’ through modelling of appropriate behaviours and commitment to the Opal values.
- General management experience in a geographically dispersed and customer focused manufacturing, warehousing and distribution B2B business, understanding the key metrics and the levers that can be pulled to achieve targets.
- A successful track record developing a strong customer service culture with emphasis on safety, entrepreneurial selling, service excellence, talent development, product leadership and innovation, and the consistent achievement of agreed financial objectives.
- Solid experience in leading and inspiring a team, driving business performance.
- Expertise in Business Development and Sales processes, including experience in managing senior level customer relationships.
