Manager - Applications at Electoral Commission, Wellington
The Electoral Commission is looking for a Manager, Applications to join the Information Technology team. You will be part of a great, supportive, and fun team - leading the future of the Commission's software capabilities as it seeks to modernise the way we deliver electoral events and maintain our electoral rolls. You'll also work as a key member of the IT leadership team to grow and develop our capabilities and create a fulfilling work environment. This will be a rewarding role, where you will see your efforts directly contributing to providing an effective and impartial electoral system that New Zealanders understand and trust. It will challenge you to think strategically about our application portfolio, implementing changes that are too complex to resolve within a single election cycle. You'll have the opportunity to mature and develop our own capabilities in software development, testing and operations to deliver an event critical to our democracy. The salary band is $145,877-$162,086. We are seeking candidates who:- Have extensive experience in managing software development lifecycles.
- Have a proven track record of defining a strategic direction for software capabilities.
- Have proven experience in managing application development teams and suppliers.
- Bring significant leadership skills, with the ability to grow and develop our staff to work as a high performing team.
- Are effective in working under pressure, managing stakeholder relationships and balancing competing priorities.
- Excel in communication, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to varied audiences.
- Define and describe the strategic direction and roadmap for the organisation's IT applications.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from conception through to deployment.
- Lead and manage the IT Applications team and critical suppliers.
- Develop business plans for the investment in the Commission's software capabilities.
- Work closely with the Commission's senior leaders and project managers as a critical member of delivering election events.
