Senior Environment and Community Advisor Location: Blackwater QLD 4717 About the Business Owned by Yancoal, Yarrabee is based in Blackwater QLD which is 200 km west of the Capricorn Coast. Yarrabee is a proud producer of high-quality PCI coal since 1982. Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. Yancoal Australia also manages five other Australian coal mines on behalf of related parties. Yancoal currently employs over 3,000 people across its operations. We have a new, exciting opportunity for a Senior Environment & Community Advisor to join our team at Yarrabee. Job Tasks and Responsibilities This role will provide professional and technical support in relation to the effective management of environmental obligations and community relations, including:
- Compliance with environmental approvals, management plans and other statutory obligations
- Continual development and improvement of the Environmental Management System and associated documentation/records
- Leading the preparation and submission of statutory reporting such as NGERS, NPI, ERC, Annual Return
- Planning and execution of rehabilitation including ongoing monitoring and remediation works in accordance with PRC plan requirements
- Management of environmental and community/reputational risks
- Providing professional advice and support across the business on Environment and Community matters
- Proactive engagement and management of contractors and consultants in accordance with site processes and budget
- Proactive engagement with community and relevant stakeholders
- Supporting the Environment and Community Manager in the development and delivery of objectives, initiatives and obligations
- Assist site management in the delivery of a safe and productive workplace
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years' experience in a professional environmental role within the mining, engineering or civil construction industries
- Sound knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation, standards and management systems
- Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential
- Strong technical background in the areas of environmental monitoring, data management and reporting
- Sound understanding of mining principles
- Technical aptitude in the areas of surface and groundwater monitoring and air, noise and blast monitoring
